Getting Exercise While In The Office

Many people are working longer hours in the office these days. High employment and economic difficulties are driving a competitive workplace. With so much time spent in the office, it seems difficult to find time to exercise. There are some simple exercises that you can do in the office.

A Few Things To Keep In Mind About Office Exercise

Use some common sense about the level of appropriateness for your office and work area. You should not do anything that is disruptive to co-workers or inappropriate for your company ethos. Be sure to have a change of clothes on hand. Always focus on your work during work time.

A Basic Set Of Office Exercises

You can get a great, fast ab workout while in your chair. Put your legs out in front of you, horizontal to the ground. Plant your hands firmly into the arms of the chair. Lift up off of the chair and hold that position as long as you can. Repeat three to five times.

You can also exercise your legs while in your chair. You can perform this exercise while performing your normal work duties. Lift your legs out in front of you, as close to horizontal with the floor. Hold them as long as possible and lower them to the ground as slowly as possible. Wait ten to thirty seconds and then repeat. Do the exercise seven to ten times.

A bit of stretching is normal in an office environment. Everyone gets cramped at their desk occasionally. Slowly roll your neck in a circle seven to ten times each way. Sit up straight in your chair and fold your fingers together. Lift your folded hands as far above your head as you can and hold it for five to ten seconds. Stand up and bend over to try to touch your toes. Stretch for five to ten seconds. Cross your arms in front of you, putting a fist on each shoulder. Twist your torso slowly side to side as far as it will go. Twist to each side three to five times and hold it one to three seconds at the further point.

A few exercises in spare moments here and there can make quite the difference. You can exercise courteously in your office without disrupting your co-workers. The physical activity will also help increase you concentration and energy level throughout your work day.
